Hellooooo my little Bookworms!

Welcome back to school for Week 2.  I hope you all had a great holiday, full of fun and games with a bit of reading thrown in there  too.

THANK  YOU to all of the children who have returned their reading logs,  You are in for some great prizes!  You can check out the prizes in the display cabinet in the hall foyer.

Have a look at the new books on our new book shelf.  We have some crackers there this week.  I know everyone will be keen to see the latest Guinness Book of Records, which is always in the library because it will be kept in the Reference section.
There are new books from some of our favourite authors - Michael Morpurgo, James Patterson, Jaqueline Wilson and Jake Maddox.  There are also two Minions books which might just tickle your fancy, especially if you caught the Minions movie in the holidays.  And if you feel like learning to knit yourself something to keep warm over this cold winter, there is a gorgeous knitting book called Knitting Smitten.

Have you all met our gorgeous new library visitor?  He's hairy and scary but terribly gentle.  He loves nothing more than to have children sitting with him, even using him as a pillow while they read a good book.  He loves to read and will read anything and everything, but his favourite book at the moment is The Library Lion (he thinks it's about himself!). He also likes Lion Boy, Lion in the Meadow and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. He's a little shy, but very friendly once he gets to know you.  He only roars if he sees children misbehaving or if you stand on his tail!  He loves to eat mandarins, carrots, oranges  and chocolate, and his favourite bands are Atomic Kitten, the Pussy Cat Dolls and Def Leopard.  He is, of course, our new resident Library Lion. The problem is, our lovely lion doesn't have a name!

CAN  YOU HELP  FIND A NAME FOR OUR LION?  If you have a suggestion for a name for him, please put it in the comments at the end of this blog post. You might like to add why you have suggested that name too.   Make sure that you put your own name and class in your comment too.  Mr Macmillan and I, and my new helpers, Lyteah and Nicole will pick a winner.  All suggestions need to be in, as a blog comment, by next Friday 7th August. Entries will only be accepted from this blog.  I can't wait to see your suggestions! Happy days!

Happy reading, my little peeps!  Have a great week!

Hi there Bookies!

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!  It's the end of the term!  I can't wait to have two weeks off to be able to go on adventures and do lots of stuff with my family.  I'm also hoping to get plenty of time to read my book, or a magazine, or some quilt books!  Sounds heavenly!

Now, I want you all to do something for me these holidays.  It would mean a lot to me, and I'm sure you would enjoy it...  Could you all please do some reading - just 20 minutes a day, and I don't mind what you read - it could be a good book, magazines, a website, the cereal box, street signs, brochures of any adventures you might go on, a recipe book, craft books, junk mail, packets at the supermarket, rules of a board game... there is reading everywhere you go!

And don't forget to write down all of your reading on your reading diary - even if it is stuff that mum or dad has read to you.

Don't forget that there are some FANTASTIC websites out there that relate to BOOKS and AUTHORS.  Google your favourites and you might just be surprised at what you find.  They often have games and fun things to do on their websites too.  Have a look under the Book Fun tab on this blog for a few ideas.

In the meantime, check out this funny, funny, funny video of The Captain Underpants Song.  You'll be singing it with all your mates!  Hooray for Captain Underpants!

Well, peeps, I really hope you all have a wonderful holiday!  Have lots of fun, be kind to your family and read, read, read!

See you next term!
